Below are some art terminologies that we use throughout our website. Below the terms are the definitions. Nothing beats knowing.

Art Medium
Material (paint, clay, pastels, etc.) used by an artist to create a work of art.
Mixed Media Art
The use of a variety of media in an entertainment or work of art. For example a drawing created using pencils and ink.
Assemblage
Art that is made by assembling diverse elements – often everyday objects – scavenged by the artist.
Art Reproductions
An art reproduction is a copy of an original artwork in which the painting, drawing or other two-dimensional piece is photographed and reproduced by a printing process.
Art Commissions
An art commission is the act of requesting the creation of a piece, often on behalf of another. Artwork may be commissioned by private individuals, by the government, or businesses.
Original Art
Original Art is any work considered to be an authentic example of the works of an artist, rather than a reproduction or imitation. That original may be a painting of some kind, or a sculpture , or a performance work, or one of many other kinds of media.

Art Collecting Tip #2

Don’t be afraid to mix it up!
Your art pieces do not have to be of the same style, medium, frame, and subject matter. Also don't be afraid to mix up framed and unframed art. Art needs to match, complement or help pull together the specific mood of your space. Some things to keep in mind when displaying art are color, theme, balance, texture and variety. Avoid over whelming a space with art. Allow empty wall space here and there to give the eye a rest.
